I have read all the security critiques on Amazon from all the diverse safety MFG's. Skylink, GE, Bulldog Safety etc. I was impressed that the reviews on this product did not mention something about poor good quality, poor range and so on. I initially referred to as the AAS safety people and was impressed that more than the telephone they could answer all my questions. I would like to let you know that the key programmer/ auto dialer is the identical on all their units from AAS100 to AAS600 systems. The only distinction is the amount of door sensors, motion detectors, sirens etc and so on. They have so countless additional add on's for their safety program it is outstanding, such as remote wireless sirens, smoke detectors, gas detectors, water detectors and significantly more and extra. So I ordered a custom unit from them: 1 main programmer/dialer, 1 remote siren and three motion detectors and 2 remote key pods. I setup the system on my kitchen table in about 1/2 an hour. The siren is loud, considering that I purchased the separate wireless siren unit it can be placed anywhere you have an AC outlet. The motion detectors work fabulous. Not as well sensitive but perform at long distances. I put one on the motion detectors in my den and it looks into my kitchen and will detect you if you walk at the end of the kitchen 40ft away.The primary programmer has built in battery backup. I have a 3000 sq ft residence and I do not know where to place the 3rd detector, the other two detectors cover my entire initially floor. I've only had it for a week but I am impressed. You have the ability to dial into this technique and listen to what is happening, operates with my blackberry cellphone. UPDATE:
The program is terrific. No troubles. I use VOIP Vonage for my household telephone and it functions superb on out going alerts from the AAS 100 security program, but on incoming calls the Vonage answering service will answer and I cannot dial into the AAS 100. SO....I purchased the VOIP Grandstream Handystream 286 adapter from Amazon went to CallCentric and signed up for their VOIP phone . Its ideal for a alarm system simply because it will dial out and I can now contact in to my alarm. Expense? $1.95 per month. Excellent! If any one finds a greater VOIP supply let me know!
Second update:
Located out my dog can set off the motion detectors. No predicament, raised the pointing angle and now my pug does not set off the alarm. My wife and I set it just about every time we go out. Even with the dog at property. Like this technique.
Third update Feb 2011:
Technique still operating outstanding. Had to replace the 9V batteries for two of the motion detectors, so I would say they last about 6 months. I replaced the batteries on all the units anyway. Easy to do, and I did not have to reprogram any of them. Amazon has some amazing offers on 9V Alkaline batteries. I also dropped my VOIP CallCentric and I just use the Vonage VOIP. No want for two systems, I by no means had to dial into the security method, no false alarms!
Had this alarm method for the final two months. Also, purchased the GSM Cellular Module, considering that I don't have a land-line.
Right after being broken into my earlier place, an alarm method was a should have for our new apartment property. Prior to moving in, I began the installation. At first, I was concerned with the directions which mainly consisted of a photograph example, but the installation was a breeze. The door alarms are easy to mount and based on a flawless engineering. The motion detectors had been a bit more tricky, but I once I figured out how the jumpers coordinated with the spectrum of detection (which is enclosed in those directions), it was fine. I set mine to a sizeable distance, so I really should not have been shocked that the cat set it off. At a mid-distance, my cat didn't trigger it at all.
Though I could have applied a bit a lot more description of the modes (Residence, AWAY, etc.), all of the directions for programming the program had been clear and concise. The flexibility of this technique is impressive. You can plan up to ten phone numbers and customize the timer delays as substantially as you have to have to. The important fobs are great. I have buddies that paid $800.00 for their systems and having had to come by although they are gone, I hate the keypad-only systems. You can set this program using the crucial fob, which can transmit through our metal door or arm it by phone.
As for the alarm component, I have had this go off accidentally and by design. The accident portion had to do with guests who did not adhere to directions and my cat. In every single case, I was notified soon enough to disarm it relatively rapidly. The alarm is loud and deafening inside the apartment, and is surely loud sufficient to be heard inside the making.
I would highly advise this method. You can use it with a monitoring corporation because that is supported, but it surely beats the $800.00 models that these monitoring corporations charge for their systems. Plus installation is uncomplicated and DIY. I feel safe at night and when I am away. The day-to-day use is rather simple and easy to perform into your morning/night routine.
